During shuttle mediation, a mediator “shuttles” between two disputing parties to help them reach an agreement.
A teleconference may be an option when both parties have experienced domestic abuse or when the couple cannot be in the same room for fear of each other’s reactions.
Not everyone enjoys shuttle mediation. Others think it’s a great way to keep clients out of court and help them settle without mediation Islington. Nevertheless, it is a great tool.
Our bodies felt like they had worked out after our first two-hour shuttle mediation session! Of course, conflicts are best resolved in person, as most mediators do. However, a shuttle mediation Islington may be an excellent alternative for those unable or unwilling to mediate in the same room. Also, if you go to family court, you will be seated right next to your opponent.
WHAT IS SHUTTLE MEDIATION?
We allow 15 minutes for each client to ensure fairness and separation of arrival and departure. For example, it took about 15 minutes to move the flipchart between rooms.
Telephone mediation Islington differs from face-to-face sessions in that you rely on the mediator to convey your feelings to the other party. Shuttle mediation can help parents, property, and finances.
Is a third person allowed to attend Shuttle Mediation?
Yes. You can bring a support person to shuttle mediation, but they cannot directly negotiate with the mediator on your behalf. Likewise, a lawyer or family law attorney cannot be the mediator to avoid an imbalance. You can bring a third party if they aren’t talking directly to the mediator.
In collaborative mediation, both parties agree to have a lawyer present during the mediation Islington process.
Is Shuttle Mediation Islington right for you?
In one of our recent shuttle cases, a mediator feared being attacked by the client for discussing his wife’s financial views!
“You are confronting me close to my face raises my fear for my safety,” he reassured him. When should I stop so you can go outside for a while?’ The client was immediately calmed.
Consequences include having to explain your point of view through the mediator, which may be lost in translation. Because of this, it costs more and takes longer than traditional mediation.
HOW LONG IS SHUTTLE MEDIATION?
Unlike most face-to-face meetings, shuttle mediation in Islington takes two hours. So the mediator can move between rooms and meet with each client individually. Due to this, shuttle mediation takes longer than face-to-face. For example, most clients need three joint shuttle sessions for parenting or financial mediation.
Is there a cost?
Shuttle mediation Islington costs the same as our other mediation services: £120 per person per hour. A further £30 per person is required to rent the extra room for shuttle mediation.
WERE SHUTTLE TRAFFIC ONLINE?
Yes. Our online meeting software, Zoom, allows for shuttle mediation. You don’t have to see each other or talk during Zoom sessions.
For 15 minutes, the mediator will alternate between the virtual rooms. Since the Covid-19 outbreak, many mediators wonder if shuttle mediation is still necessary for the same building. One hundred twenty-minute online shuttle meetings are also possible.
SETTING UP A MEDIATION SHUTTLE SERVICE
If both parties agree, a shuttle mediation can be held. It can’t happen if one party refuses to do word cloud shuttle mediation and the other party insists on it. MIAM appointments are ideal for discussing shuttle mediation.
Tell your mediator if you want shuttle mediation, and they’ll tell the other party. The mediator will coordinate your arrival and departure with the company’s support staff. Any safety concerns should be discussed with your MIAM or the business support team. It may be decided that mediation Islington is not the best option for your case.
A MEDIATOR MAY REQUIRE SHIFT MEDIATION.
Yes. They will offer shuttle mediation if they believe it is the only way to resolve your dispute. You and the mediator must decide if face-to-face mediation is best. We keep an eye on your case to ensure we’re doing our part to help you decide. Shuttle mediation may help you resolve your conflict.
What other options exist besides mediation?
Ask the mediator for a break-out room. When things get heated, taking a break from face-to-face mediation can help. This ensures that both parties are heard, and there is no bias in the room. Bullying and slurs will not be tolerated.
Taking a break in a separate room or scheduling more breaks can help. The mediator will incorporate all of this into the plan they create with you during your first meeting. After that, meetings can take any of these forms.
IS SHUTTLE MEDIATION A HIT?
Absolutely. In joint mediation, 90% of our clients succeed, including those who used shuttle mediation to get there. We’ve had many success stories with the shuttle.
They hadn’t talked in four years. After a few sessions of shuttle mediation Islington they decided to finish in the same room because it was going so well. For the first time in five years, the child began to reintegrate into their lives.
This was a complex case with the mother’s severe alcoholism, but the mediator’s efforts and the mother’s sobriety made it work.
